Mississippi State Law For Hunting, Trapping & Picking Up Roadkill 

In Mississippi, it is legal to hunt, Trap & pick up Roadkill animals, including nuisance species and furbearing animals, Common examples include raccoons, foxes, opossums, coyotes, and bobcats, among others. Additionally, wild hogs, beavers, skunks, and nutria are classified as nuisance species and can be hunted, trapped or picked up as roadkill.

Nuisance Species: Wild hogs, skunks, foxes, coyotes, beavers & nutria are classified as nuisance species and can be hunted, trapped or picked up as roadkill

Furbearing Animals: Raccoons, opossums and Muskrats can be hunted, trapped or picked up as roadkill

Other Legal Animals:

raccoons, foxes, opossums, beavers, nutria, coyotes and bobcats, deer, snakes, gray squirrel & fox squirrel 


Protected Species: 
Balck Bear you can not hunt, trap or pick up as roadkill or sell any part of a bear. 

Baby deer ( Fawn ) you can not hunt, trap or pick up as roadkill 


Mississippi State Law For Birds

in Mississippi legal game birds include doves, ducks, geese, mergansers, coots, rails, snipe, woodcock, bobwhite quail & turkey

Protected Species:

Protected birds include eagles, hawks, owls, vultures, songbirds & swans

Please always remember to check your State Laws and local game warden for rules and regulations when it comes to Picking up Roadkill. Each state has a different law on what you can keep. In some states you may need to get a license or tag to pick up Roadkill such a deer. In Mississippi you need a taxidermy license in order to pick up Roadkill besides follow the rules and laws.
